Data Deletion Instructions

Overview

In accordance with Facebook Platform Policy and applicable data protection regulations, Sight Word Tracker provides users with the ability to request deletion of their personal data. This page explains how to submit a deletion request and what happens when we receive it.

Facebook also requires that apps provide a callback URL that Facebook can call to initiate data deletion on behalf of users who disconnect your app via Facebook's settings. This page serves both purposes.

Option 1: Delete Data via Facebook

You can remove Sight Word Tracker's access to your Facebook data directly through Facebook:

• Log in to your Facebook account
• Navigate to Settings & Privacy > Settings
• Select Apps and Websites from the left menu
• Find Sight Word Tracker in the list of active apps
• Click Remove and confirm the removal

This revokes our permission to access your Facebook data. To also delete data we have already collected, please follow Option 2 below.

Option 2: Submit a Direct Deletion Request

To request deletion of all personal data we hold about you, please contact us using one of the following methods:

Via the website

Navigate to https://sight-word-tracker.web.app/ and select the tab My Account. At the bottom of this page is a section entitled Danger zone. Click on the button which says Delete my account and follow the instructions there.

By email

Send an email to contact@english.clinic with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." Please include:

• Your full name
• The email address associated with your account
• Your Facebook User ID (if known)
• A brief description of the data you wish deleted

What Happens After You Submit a Request

Once we receive your data deletion request:

• We will send an acknowledgement within 48 hours
• We will verify your identity to protect against unauthorised deletion requests
• We will process your request within 30 days
• We will send a confirmation email once deletion is complete
• We will provide a unique confirmation code for your records

What Data Is Deleted

Upon a valid deletion request, we will permanently delete:

• Your account information (name, email, profile data)
• Any content you created or uploaded
• Your activity and usage history
• Any Facebook data we obtained through API permissions
• Preferences and settings associated with your account

Data We May Retain

Certain data may be retained after a deletion request for legitimate purposes:

• Data required by law or regulation (e.g., financial records for the required retention period)
• Anonymised or aggregated data that cannot be linked to you
• Data necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements
• Backup copies, which are purged on a rolling schedule (typically within 90 days)
